I don't know the story behind this letter "J"... but it is carved/stamped into the electric pole in my yard.

day 180

I think I have my last reflection shot... I went uptown at about sunset and shot into the storefront windows to capture both the street behind and the tables inside. I love the marriage of the two worlds in this shot and how they fade into each other. I also liked this one. The reflection in the sunglasses distorts a little, but I don't love it. Because it was taken through a window, it isn't as clear as I think it could be.
Another reflection. I liked the courthouse and the jewelry in the same image.

Love and two images in one.

day 179

Today was the first day that I had to force myself to go out and shoot something. I really didn't feel like it tonight, but it was getting past 9pm and I hadn't done it yet. I just took a couple snaps. ditch flowers and reflections in an old oven door.

This is what happens when you leave your onions in the ground over the winter, they grow a second season and go to seed.
Not sure what I'll do next with themSavory Love

day 176

Yesterday I had about 30 good photos to choose from. Today it was sunset and I hadn't even picked up the camera yet. So I ran out to see what I could find. So we have a simple composition of weeds that border the bean field with the sunset behind

day 175

Today was a great learning experience for me. I took my first ever set of head shots. These were a rush order so the family was not concerned with my lack of experience shooting head shots.
I studied up on what is desirable for them and I hope I was able to capture what they needed. I would do them again, I wish all my photo shoots were as quick and easy as this one was.

day 173

I really struggled with what to shoot today, and you can't really tell that the sunset was nice at this angle... but I like the lines and colors of this hay rake. Love and Farm Implements

day 171

I had a family photo shoot today. It was a 60th anniversary party and the Grandma had me do family portraits of all her kids, grand kids, and great-grand kids. A good idea to capture the everyone while they are there. Today's shot is of the parents getting their little guy ready for the camera... spit bath anyone? Love and Family

day 170

Still working out the reflection series. I like this one from today's shots. You can't beat cookware for great reflective surfaces. Not sure about the composition in the reflection, but it is interesting. Love and Sweet Corn

day 169

I've always wanted to capture that stunning lightning shot! Well, this isn't the stunner I've imagined, but I'm thrilled with it. I've never captured it before so to catch any at all makes me happy. I'm going to keep on it, and hopefully get the "dang" picture soon.

day 167

Got my hair cut..... and donated 5 ponytails to Locks of Love. They measured between 10 and 12 inches. After this haircut, I went to a meeting and was a little surprised that no one noticed that my hair was a foot shorter. (but that is okay)

day 166

I was at Wal-Mart in the garden section, when the sun was setting, so I took some back lit plant photos. I kind of like this one best.
Love in Golden light

day 165

We caught a frog today. This one is an actual frog and not a toad like the last ones we've been playing with.
Everyone loved the little froggie
I think the frog had less fun than we did.

He was released very shortly after this, unharmed.

day 164

A photographer friend of mine takes stunning macro shots. I can't compete with her work, but the other day she took some beautiful photos of weeds. I thought I'd try my hand at it. There is no weed more hated around here than the Thistle... here it is in all it's glory. We will be chopping it down tomorrow. Love and pokey things

day 163

I have a photo from today... but I don't have permission from the model's parents to post so I will wait for that before I share it with you.

day 158

These pictures won't have much meaning if you aren't from around here, but the scene stopped me cold this morning when I drove by. Where this brush pile sits there used to be the county home for the elderly. It hasn't been used for better than 25 years now and it certainly was falling apart. But It was shocking to no longer see it on our rural landscape. It was a real lesson for me. Every time I drove by here I would think about how the dilapidated building had so much character and I really needed to photograph it. Now, I will never get the chance. Don't wait my friends, take that photo before the opportunity is gone.

Love and regrets

day 157

We had a busy day today. Planting flowers on main street. I got to catch up with my best friend from kindergarten! It was great to see her again!!
And as I was taking reference photos of clouds, the heavens seemed to just smile down upon me.

day 155

This month's photo assignment is reflections... I shot a couple tonight just as a starting point. I like the idea of these compositions, but I would have liked to have the reflections a little crisper. I think maybe that would happen with cleaner water? I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for reflective surfaces.
