How do you spend days?

Well, here we are in the last days before DH goes off overseas. He flies out on January 1st. I find myself pulling inward. I just want to spend these last few days with my family close, giving us as much time together as we can. I don't want to go much further than our home. His TDY is only 120 days, for which I am very thankful, but it is still hard to think about him going to Iraq. I know that other military families are looking at 6, 12, 18 months apart so I don't want to fuss about 4 months. I'm glad that he will be home in time for the spring planting. I'll have to do the tilling myself, but he'll get to enjoy the planting and all that goes with tending the early garden. Can't wait to pick him up from the airport in May!

A new direction

Wow! I thought I would never find this blog again... I thought I would just have to start a new one. But here I am, back again. TA DA! So what is this new direction I eluded to in the title of this post? Well Daddy is going to go overseas to serve this great country for awhile... So, we left here at home are going to post to this blog to keep him updated from home when he is in Baghdad, Iraq. I hope to post photos of our family adventures while he is gone. If you are reading... leave a comment so he (and I) can see who is checking up on us and thinking of him also.

what I did over the month of February

February has been fun. It was my Birthday so I enjoyed the spotlight when I could. We were snowed in for at least 50% of the entire month... so that was fun, for sledding. But WAY too cold to take any good outdoor shots. Here is some new stuff... A couple of shots I took during the lunar eclipse last month. I figure if I get photos posted at least once a month I'm feeling pretty good. Lately I've been shooting film. Medium format mostly, but I have some pinhole 35mm shots I want to take also. Once I find a place that develops 120 film for the color shots and set up a darkroom for the bw shots I will post them as well.

today is...

The Homeschool Science Fair is today. Kate is in 1st grade, but I thought it would be good experience for her to make a project for the fair. I never took part in science fair when I was a kid, so I'm excited to see how it all works. I feel very confident that she is ready. I hope I'm not forgetting anything that I need to bring, or do, or have for tonight. I will take the camera so look for pictures tomorrow.

yay for Magnets!

Lets run it up the flagpole and see....

And so it begins... I have written three posts and deleted three posts. I just need to write a little something... anything, and get it online. I have been trying to get some of my photos up here too but I'm not quite getting it. The first one came up sideways, so by the time I figured out what my problem was, the baby was awake and needing my attention. Mostly my milk and comfort. Babies need that. I'm glad I can give that to my babies. What am I talking about, 'most every woman can give that to their babies... not everyone does. I'm glad that I choose to give that to my babies. There it is, my first soapbox. Babies are born to breastfeed. Period. The End.
