day 211

Took all my pictures around the farm today... First we see ladies in waiting. Waiting for corn.
Next is the windrows of hay laying... waiting for a baler to come along. Then the tractor and haybaler but we must wait to make hay... because the baler broke.

Lastly, a poor tiny frog waiting to be released. He was safely returned to his habitat right after this photo.

Love and waiting

day 210

Men at work... Love and hard work

day 209

When we lived on base we had some good neighbors... This is Tam, she was awesome. We became family when neither of us were geographically close to our families. We moved here, and she moved to the extreme southern part of the country.
Yesterday, she surprised me by driving into the county fair where I was working. Needless to say, we stayed up half the night catching up. It was so good to see you again Tam... love you. Love and friends from the past.

day 204

I did some senior pictures tonight for a young lady who wanted pictures with her lambs. I've always loved the fluffy little critters, but we never raised them, I soon realized you can't make a lamb do what it doesn't want to do.

But they are still pretty darned cute.

Love and Lambs

day 201

I wanted to take some water pictures today, so I told the kids to go splash in the water table. Then I put my camera in shutter priority to see how the different speeds help to interpret the water movement. This one feels very abstract to me.
this photo drew my attention first, because it has aspects of both a fast and slow shutter speed. Like it is frozen from Left and gets more movement as you travel to the right side of the frame.

This one made me think of motion more than water. like a surfer's wave.

Love and H2O

day 199

We went swimming at the lake, when the life flight circled and then landed about 100 yd away from where we were. That was unsettling. We had a youth group activity today and made s'mores with the kids. Mmm, gooey, yum.
Love and sticky messes

day 197

I drove to the cemetery down the road to work on my shadows... this is the first, it is photo shopped to make the shadow appear darker. I think it is too noticeable so I moved on. then I went to this one. But I think the hand placement looks a little weird, like from the grave? I felt it might creep out before it made you think "cool". so I moved on...
There, this one is closest to a shadow conveying an emotion. I hope when you look at it you think of a grieving shadow. that was a good exercise in making your shadows have personality.

Love and implied emotion

day 194

There is nothing spectacular about this photo... and it breaks all sorts of rules for good photography, but I liked it and keep getting drawn back to it, so I make it today's P.O.D. ... and then remember our strangers-turned-friends from Sunday morning? Today was the re-take and I am very happy with how it turned out!

Love and second chances.

day 193

I thought I posted these yesterday.... Well then, this is my supper. Zigeunerschnitzel, nearly smashed potatoes, baked apples, corn, and beer bread.
I choose to make this so I could use it for the scavenger hunt as something starting with the letter "Z". Here is the recipe I used, to prove that I didn't just make up the word.
and here it is cooking. It was delicious!!! and fun to say, I told everyone who would listen what I was making just so I could say zigeunerschnitzel!

Love and Zigeunerschnitzel

day 192

I'll start out with the photo I've chosen for today.... sometimes you just have to go with the aww factor. Now on to the story. I really wanted this to be my picture of the day for so many reasons. This would have fulfilled my "stranger" photo in the scavenger hunt I'm participating in... and These people, come to find out, were married in our little church 50 years ago this coming October... and I was so excited that they were willing to let me do this. I had my old (D70) camera with me so the viewing window is teeny tiny and I can't tell if the eyes are closed or anything like that.
When her eyes were closed, his were open... and Vice versa.
I felt like it was a total flop and I had missed my opportunity to get these Stranger photos with such a story. I was bummed... now fast forward.
My DD decided to get the phone number so she could possibly play with the DGD of this couple. So, I called them to ask if they were still in town. As luck would have it they are in town until the end of the month. Yay! I get a retake. We are meeting on Tuesday so I can retake these pictures, and they may use them in their 50 anniversary celebration. I plan to take the good camera and flash and will be prepared this time... but I don't think I can call them strangers now. :0)
Love and new friends
