I took a ton of pictures today... but none of them were what I would call photography. I was getting ready to settle for one of those shots when the moon caught my eye tonight.
Hey, it's a full moon! Moon pictures are a struggle for me. They take such long exposure times that a tripod is a must. Often, unless there are slow moving clouds or a completely clear atmosphere, the shots just 'meh'. I put the tree branches in tonight's shot as a reference point. (And) I wish I had a stronger tele-lens but all in all I feel okay with this one. Love and the Man in the Moon

day 57
I think I'm stuck in macro photography. I get to the end of the day and haven't gone anywhere and haven't taken any photos so I grab something close to me and get in real close. I like the results, but I want to expand my vision and portfolio. Funny, when I started this project, I was certain that I'd have all portraits and everyone would be sick of them. People are my favorite subject. Well, I do have 308 days left to take portraits.

day 55
Jack Frost rapped on my window pane
and knocked on the door with his icicle cane.
"Excuse me", I said, "the door's shut tight
and I'd rather you didn't come over tonight".
So he wrote his name all over the glass.
And the baby sneezed as she heard him pass....
"Achoo!"

day 53
I got a few shots out of my camera, but it was acting funny. Something is seriously wrong...(I am rather concerned.) I think my flash is the problem or at least I hope so. I'd rather replace a speedlight than a camera. Now to quote.... "If this were play'd upon a stage now, I could condemn it as an improbable fiction". From Twelfth Night Act 3 Scene 4

day 52
I like it when the photo of the day comes to me in a without a lot of planning on my part. An example: Today, the little child found my polyester stuffing and brought a big wad of it into the living room to play with. He soon decided that a pile of fluff isn't that great and abandoned it. The big dog saw it and thought it DID look like fun. I rescued it very quickly, placing it on the table, that was when I wondered if I could take a 'good picture' of poly fluff. I tried a few shots and decided that I needed a little army guy in the fluff. I went searching for the toys, and instead found this staggerwing plane ornament. Well now, that just lends itself to poly fluff doesn't it? Love and Fluff

day 51
I had a photo shoot today with this beautiful little family. They are expecting in a few weeks and wanted to get a couple belly shots. I love doing those! It has been a couple years since my last belly shoot and I was a little rusty. I couldn't remember any of the dynamic poses I liked to do, so I kinda went in winging it. It felt like I was starting all over again as a portrait photographer. I usually leave a shoot thinking about all the things I didn't do, which happened today of course) but I also like the results of today's work. I hope they like them as well. I've done their pictures before and they are always very kind about my learning curve. I think that many of them, I'll convert to black and white... but they look good in color too.

day 50
I have some photography friends who have been shooting candle flames lately. I thought I'd try my hand at it. Oh my goodness, it is hard to get a nice flame photo. I like the contrast of the flame in the snow while I'm shooting, but not happy with the backgrounds. I want to play with this idea again. Different times of day, filters, setups.... all things to think about.

day 47
This winter has left many people with grumpy attitudes, many complain about being snowed in for days at a time... Well, with 700 miles of gravel roads to clear after each snowfall, I think the county workers are doing an excellent job.
Today I pay homage to the much overworked (around here anyway) snowplow driver. These hard workers have been running non-stop since about Thanksgiving. The last few weeks we've had storm on top of storm. The man who maintains our road has done an excellent job of keeping up with the drifting snow. So my hat is off to you sir, Thank You.

day 46
Today's pictures are just snapshots, but I couldn't resist the chance to capture the fun. The big dog loves being out in the snow... it is a good thing we have so much of it. I think he looks like he's laughing in this shot. When we try to scoop snow he jumps right to the middle of it. Snow piled up for him is like a giant leaf pile to a kid.

day 45 and it feels like we are fighting an uphill battle
No, I'm not getting frustrated with the 365 project... but the constant winter weather is even wearing on me. I usually embrace the seasons and can endure lots, but this season is pretty snowy. Ah, well it can't last forever.
And, I would like to introduce some new members of my photography team. "Cowboys and Indians" will be joining "Little green Military Guys" for some of these shoots. This is my favorite shot of the day, I know it is slightly tilted, but I think that lends to the chaos of the situation.

Miss Me?
I was unable to post yesterday.
Here is day 43's photo. This is an old Church that is currently for sale. I'd love to buy this building and make it my art studio. I'd paint, do photography, as well as teach art classes to children and adults. I would also rent studio space out to local artists who just want a place to do their work. Guess what I would name my studio if I could buy this building... are you ready? I'd call it "How great thou art studios". Pretty cool name huh? Well with tomorrow being Valentine's Day and all I took this shot last night in the spirit of love.

Accident on day 38
We were driving to Church this morning with a fresh layer of new snow on the ground and more falling. There is a rather steep hill with a deep ravine at the bottom. I started to fishtail at the top of the hill and could just barely keep in under control until the car's momentum and gravity took over. Then I knew I wasn't going to keep it out of the ditch. I was hoping to make it to the bottom of the hill, we went over the embankment just at the bottom and then rolled over and landed on our top in the creek. It was the scariest drive/ride I've ever had in my life! This was the first accident I've ever been in where I was driving. I don't mind telling you that I was pretty shaken up. The whole family climbed out of it fine. I have a stiff neck, my husband has a bloody knuckle, and there were two broken fingernails but those are the only injuries we can account for.

37th day
This isn't actually a photo from today... I captured it late last night. DD and the small dog were relaxing on the couch. I thought they looked so sweet, I just had to take a picture. Doesn't it just make you want to curl up with someone warm and read a good book? These are from today's folder. I went traveling and found a couple churches to photograph. This first one, just smiled at me.

day 36.... red
I am shooting "Red" as a subject. This set up took place while my supper cooked. I took about 30 shots of these cherries over a time of about 30 minutes. I played with shutter speed to see if it would freeze the water... but found it messed with the hue of the red. I learned that red is a hard color to shoot well. This is my favorite shot of the day

Churches
for day 35 I went out to photograph some Churches. The day was weirdly overcast. The colors were not what I'd like to see, but I think I got a couple good captures. The first one was a beautiful, well kept Church. I loved exploring the grounds of this one.
Next, I found an abandoned Church, there was so much detail in it and these photos can't do it justice. I'd like to come back when the weather is clear to see if I can get some better shots.
You can tell it was once very regal... I don't know the background for this building, but here is an interesting side note that I can not confirm (so I guess it is just me passing on gossip!) but it makes an interesting story. I stepped into the business next door to this former Church to ask about it. The owner of that store told me that a local bar owner bought the ailing structure to renovate it and turn it into a "gentleman's club"!!! Isn't that crazy? My opinion is that it just doesn't seem like the right fit for such a beautiful building?

day 33
Yesterday I requested some photography ideas from a group of friends of mine. They came up with some great subjects for me to shoot including; barns, churches, windmills, a botanical garden, and architecture. All are great suggestions and you will see my vision of many of theses things as the weeks pass.
The first one I worked on was barns. I found a plain old red barn, and took lots of shots, but I loved the roller that had fallen and was hanging by a hinge just to keep it off the ground. I'm guessing the owners didn't want to lose it in the grass and weeds growing up around the foundation of the barn. The blue is a nice contrast.
